If your gussets are really squishy, your saddle may not be supporting your weight on your horses back. Here are some gussets on a saddle I was working on today that were way too soft. Oh! The seat also had some suspect wrinkles. When I dropped the panels, turns out the webbing had softened. It’s like sitting in a hammock but instead of being supported by the hammock, your sitting on the grass. Same here, you’re sitting directly on the horses back. Not a good situation.
