ABOUT ADRIENNE HENDRICKS

Adrienne has become an Industry Leader and is now focusing on changing the current mindset of Saddle Fitting.  With over 10 years as a Professional Saddle Maker, she has noticed a divide and confusion between Saddle Making and Saddle Fitting.  The result has been in saddles being ruined, horses being uncomfortable and misdiagnosed, and riders spending needless money on new saddles to fix the problem.

She is on a mission to bridge those two worlds and raise the bar in saddle fitting to become an art of its own.  In addition to working on repairs in her shop, she has opened it up to training a new network of saddle fitters providing the same philosphy and environment that Suzie created for her. She is also presenting this philosophy nationally and trying to help bring Saddle Fitting back to its root form of identifying if your saddle fits your horse, and if not, why.  She is passionately trying to share this new concept of saddle fitting with everyone she talks with to make a big change.

Adrienne grew up with horses riding English in Boise, Idaho.  She has experience in Dressage, Combined Training, Hunters, Jumpers and even some Endurance Riding. She is a Graduate H-A (’88) Pony Clubber and has schooled through 4th Level Dressage on Cricket, her Hanoverian/Thoroughbred.  You will see Cricket on all of her horse tail products, she is the only horse facing you! Adrienne is getting to know her new horse, Loki who is a 7 year old Quarter Horse. Having owned many diverse horse types has helped her become very familiar with understanding many common saddle fitting issues and providing solutions.

She began working on leather many years ago with her father. He would give her a few pointers as they worked together and soon began to fix and adjusting her own tack. After becoming disenchanted in the corporate world as a Stockbroker and Banker, she began an apprenticship with Suzie Fletcher, a Master Saddle Maker living in Colorado. When Suzie returned to England, Adrienne took over managing her US repairs and they are still business partners.

Adrienne’s focus is on saddles because they are what help connect us to our horses. Having the correct saddle has the ability to solidify a magical partnership between us an an amazing animal that can be our best friend, give us the opportunity to stand proud with a big accomplishment, and can teach us how to just find joy in sitting on a fence being with them.  She loves the challenge of monster saddle rebuilds!  When she does a repair, she tries to work so that no one will know the saddle was repaired – all the stiching and repair work looks like it is original.  At the same time, her goal is that when clients receive their saddles, they don’t recognize them because they look like they did they day they purchased them!

When she isn’t in her shop, she spends time in her kitchen.  She loves to cook and her twin boys are right there with her plotting out 3 and 5 course meals!  They also love to fish the Idaho streams.  While the boys fly fish, Adrienne ties flies and they spend hours searching for the big one.  They have grand visions of travelling to places to catch something bigger than a rainbow trout!

The team…

Lisa Miller, US Logistics and Marketing Director

Lisa and I met when she was working at the school where my boys attend. Lisa was working on a leather project and when she asked friends who might know a bit about leather, “Adrienne” was the only answer. That started our friendship and working together.

Lisa’s been learning a lot about horses and saddles over the past few months. Her previous experience with horses was pretty limited – she had ridden a horse twice!  She has been enthusiastically learning about horses and saddles and more importantly, is helping  to keep everything organized and on track.  She is a genius with organizational greatness, and you may hear from her with a follow up on your repair, details about your saddle demo or your shirt size for some fun swag.

When she is not drinking smoothies with me in the shop or helping me proofread a saddle fit article, she loves to travel (Prague being her favorite destination) and hang out with her husband and two grown sons (when they are in town).

Wendy Westbrook, Technical and Graphic Genius

Wendy and Adrienne met through a saddlery friend in Illinois.  Adrienne needed help with her website and Wendy came to the rescue!  Wendy is also the genius behind the website design and the new swag you are seeing (horse tails!).   She has a background in corporate marketing but left all of that behind to have the freedom to be more creative and really spend quality time with her clients to understand their business needs.  She grew up riding …..

Wendy can design a website or any fun merchandise for you.  She is not just limited to horses.  Reach out to her and she can help you create some meaningful fun artwork to share you passion with your clients like she has with Adrienne. And she can do individual work if you want a personalized something just for you or your barn.
