Consignment Saddle Program

The Program

Thank you so much for choosing to list your saddle with us!  We are raising the bar in selling used saddles and are thrilled to help your saddle find a new home!!

Over the past 10 years, we have seen clients purchase used saddles only to find out that the tree was cooked.  Unfortunately after the saddle was purchased, there wasn’t much that could be done and it was a pretty large financial loss.  We heard that the tree was checked but there is no industry standard as to what that entails.  After our saddle study in 2024 showed 70% of the saddles coming through Adrienne’s shop for repair were compromised*, we decided it was time to make a change.  *Compromised definition simplified “Adrienne would not put this on her horse or resell it”.

Any used saddle that leaves our shop for purchase will be Certified.  That means that we have dropped the panels, removed the gullet lining and inspected the actual tree for symmetry, rivet soundness, and wear.  We then photograph it and keep those pictures on file.  We attach a “Certified” card with the date and who inspected the tree.  This means that on that date it was inspected, the tree was sound and you have the name of who inspected it and has the photographs.

If you are interested in joining our Certification program, reach out and we’ll share how to get involved.  Certification is handled by Adrienne and her Network Fitters who have trained with her and are listed on the Network page page. If you are a tack store, you are welcome to reach out to those listed and work with them to Certify your inventory.  If you are an individual wanting to sell your saddle, we will work with you as a go-between with another party to Certify your saddle and provide confidence that the tree is sound.

We all agree to the same ethical standards and are working to develop a nationwide standard to provide sound used saddles.  Stay tuned for a page of Tack Stores that are offering Certified Used Saddles!  We can make a difference!!

The Process…

To begin the process, please email us pictures of your saddle and information as to the seat size and tree width, price you’d like and the minimum you’ll accept.

If we can accept it, we’ll email you a shipping label and pay for shipping.  If we can’t, we’ll let you know why. Please follow instructions on the Shipping tab to send us your saddle and we will send an invoice for the Tree Inspection charge $250 that we will credit back to you when your saddle sells. (Essentially, we charge 35% commission and ask for $250 upfront).

When we get your saddle, we’ll inspect the tree.  To do this, we drop the panels and remove the gullet lining and inspect the it.  We take pictures of the tree and keep them on file. If the tree is found to be compromised, we will reach out to you and discuss this further. If the tree is sound, we’ll give your saddle a good cleaning and get it listed. When your saddle sells, we charge a 35% commission of the final sales price less the $250 Tree Inspection Fee.

Stubben Siegfried 17.5 W (31) Brown SaddleIn the event that you would like your saddle back before it sells, we are happy to return it to you. We will ask you to pay the Tree Inspection fee as well as return shipping.
