I grew up riding in my beloved Stubben Siegfried. I always wanted a Crosby Prix de Nations. I finally got one and can’t ride in it. Thus, I pay close attention to my knee blocks. I am short so I like little to no block on my dressage saddle as they interfere with my knee. Big blocks tend to encourage me to pinch with my knees and push up out of the saddle. Smaller, high blocks help if I get dislodged in a big trot or what not. Jump saddles….I love the feel of the newer saddles with the block higher up on your thigh! I’ve even been retrofitting my beloved Stubbens with a higher, bigger block from the thinner, forward pencil block. Thus, here is an older County I retro fitted for an eventer who wanted bigger blocks (Yay! Blocks!). I thought it was interesting to see the differences. I’ve been sitting in it as I made them and it’s amazing to feel the difference. It would have been fun to actually ride my horse in this saddle instead of my shop “horse”.
